The Chargers Soccer Club will host the 2017 AS Roma Academy 2017 December Showcase Dec. 15-17 at the Premier Sports Campus (PSC) in Lakewood Ranch, Fla.

This event will have 40 of the very best U12/2006 and 16 U13/2005 U.S. Development Academy teams (USDA). The opening Showcase game will take place at 7 p.m. Dec. 15, featuring the Chargers SC 2006 vs AS Roma 2006.

These USDA teams are coming from all corners of the country to demonstrate their abilities to AS Roma and U.S. Soccer scouts and coaches, for future professional and U.S. National Team opportunities.

“For the second year, the AS Roma Showcase will bring top level youth teams from all over the country,” said Antonio Saviano, director of sports for the PSC. “This year the event is even more special than last year. The AS Roma U-12 Boys will travel from Italy to play two showcase games at the Premier Sports Campus. One will be against our home club, the Chargers Soccer Club.”

The 11 AS Roma USA Academy Clubs include the Chargers SC, Boston Bolts, Pateadores, Vardar, Crossfire, Real Colorado, Real So Cal, St. Louis Scott Gallagher, PDA, Concorde Fire and Lonestar, along with other invited USDA Clubs. They will each play three games over the weekend, showcasing their top talent.

The AS Roma USA Academy was started in January 2015 with the intent of identifying future professional players and collaborative soccer development and methodology with the best soccer clubs in the USA.

“This is another great event for our local businesses as it will generate more traffic due to the amount of people traveling from out of state,” Saviano said. “It ties very nicely to the International Nike Friendlies that just concluded on Monday night.”

Parking and admission are free. For more information about the tournament, visit chargerssoccer.com/tournaments or premiersportscampus.com.
